Ravens News · Sat April 17 – ONW Softball Walks it off against STA

Saturday April 17 – Olathe Northwest Softball team is very entertaining if nothing else.  In a back and forth game the Ravens found themselves down 7-6 in the bottom of the ninth.  With one out Senior Ally Kukowski doubles to right field then advances on a wild pitch to Freshman Kendall Yarnell.  Kukowski scores on another wild pitch to tie the game at 7.  Yarnell draws a walk.  Freshman Bre Severino then singles to centerfield, Yarnell advances to second base.  With Freshman Madison Fabia up Yarnell reads a change up and steals third base while Severino moves up to second base.  Fabia pops out to SS leaving the Ravens with 2 outs and the game tied at 7 in the bottom of the seventh with runners at 2nd and 3rd.  Junior Paige White steps to the plate.  After a trip to the circle by St Thomas Aquinas Head Coach Keith Hughes, play resumes.   White to this point is working on a 3 for 3 day and seeing the ball well at the plate.  The STA pitcher throws a ball.  Next pitch is a strike right in White’s wheelhouse.  She squares it up and hits a line drive 3-run home run, the first of her career, over the left center field fence.  The Ravens win in dramatic walk off fashion 10-7 on Paige White’s 3-run home run.
