Ravens News · 4 RBI day for Yarnell leads ONW past SMNW

The Olathe Northwest Ravens were all business this evening as they defeated a very tough Shawnee Mission Northwest team.  The Ravens jumped out quick in the first inning to a 3-0 lead and added 4 more in the top of the 3rd to run the score to 7-0.  SMNW would not go quietly as they battled back to score 2 in the 3rd and 2 in the fourth.  Both teams would add a run in the 5th inning bringing the score to 8-4 Ravens. Sophomore pitcher Lilly Fisher kept the Cougars at bay for a solid 4 innings.  Freshman Bre Severino came in to finish out the game in the circle for the Ravens.  This game had a little of everything.  Freshman Kendall Yarnell crushed a home run in the top of the first inning.  She added two more hits and ended the day with 4 RBI.  Senior Madi O’Farrell made arguably the best catch of the season on a diving snag in centerfield.  Sophomore Claire Lopez made a diving stop on a ground ball and slid right into second base tagging the base with her glove for the force out as the Ravens take the victory 9-5 over SMNW.  Freshman Ashlyn Gaughan and Severino each had two hits in the games.  ONW plays SMS on Thursday at CBAC on senior night.  We would love to see you at the CBAC on Thursday at 5:30pm and stick around after the game as we show our love and appreciation for our seniors Ally Kukowski and Madi O’Farrell.
